Message from the Director:

The College of Engineering at San Diego State University has invested in its graduate and research programs over the past five years and has achieved an explosive growth. In combination with a traditional emphasis on the preparation of students for industrial practice rather than academically relevant research only, this sets the ideal stage for an intensive collaboration between the College and the significant local industry such as Solar Turbines. The Center for Industrial Training and Engineering Research (CITER) founded in 2012 and directed by Prof. Gustaaf Jacobs aims to structure and enhance collaboration between industrial partners and SDSU.

The foundation of CITER is an equally and mutually beneficial, collaborative environment to support the missions of both industrial partners and SDSU. The introduction of undergraduate and graduate students to the company culture and projects is beneficial to industrial partners. CITER benefits SDSU’s research and education mission also by having students conduct industrially inspired, collaborative research projects in core strengths of the College of Engineering.

The primary objective is for CITER connects SDSU’s engineering departments, faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students with engineers and staff scientist of local industry through projects, internships, classes, seminars, and online learning.

The first students have already graduated from CITER and are successful in industry. We are continuously looking to expand CITER initiatives and enhance student involvement. We invite you to browse through our website and get excited about our work. If you feel this type of initiative matches your interests, please visit our donation site and make a donation today.

We look forward to working with you!
